The Eat Index IE: Pi Day deals, free coffee and lots of new restaurants - Press-Enterprise

The Eat Index: IE is a weekly newsletter that lands in your inbox on Wednesdays. Subscribe here.

Talk about spring forward.

After a gloomy winter with progress against the novel coronavirus seemingly stalled, Southern California counties are suddenly talking about opening up very soon. Last week, we shared food festivals at Disney California Adventure, Knott’s Berry Farm and SeaWorld San Diego. Now Universal Studios Hollywood has joined the list.

And there are new restaurants popping up. Columnist John Plessel took a drive around Redlands and food places to get coffee and sweets.

Pi Day on Sunday, with its $3.14 pizza deals, and St. Patrick’s Day on next Wednesday, with its pints of Guinness, have people in a festive mood.

There’s even a celebration for Daylight Savings Time, which arrives Sunday and comes with a coffee from Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf if you’re an early riser.
